You don't need to look at the sea. While we are shamed on our desire of driving a car, having air-conditioning and heating in our homes, the tech companies are turning into heat the energy budget of small nations on the quest to train AI models to replace the working middle class with AI robots. Nobody even questions that rampant waste of humongous quantities of energy in a anti-worker and dangerous folly.

The arguments that the 'Greens" use are the same arguments that SEQRA and NEPA were enacted to stop. They ignore cumulative impacts. They have forgotten or never read Hardins' "Tragedy of the Commons". Wind has used this tactic of ignoring cumulative impacts in every wind project. 'This project will only kill a few eagles, a few birds, a few bats." (but of course when all the projects are aggregated the bird and bat kill losses are staggering) Now it's the whales, except with the whales the population is not in the millions the way it is with bats and birds. It is not ignorance. It is greed. It is planned neglect.
