Sen. Peter K. Oberacker Jr. represents the mostly rural District 51 in Upstate New York but is the sole Republican/Conservative sponsor of a bill to force all off-road vehicles to be zero-emissions.
Aside from the more serious problems with this proposed bill - just thinking about battery powered ATVs and snowmobiles, both of which are widely used in the Adirondacks, gets me a little worried. Both vehicles take us much farther than we can walk on a day hike, and a dead battery could become a matter of threatening survival. Maybe pull a diesel generator behind the BEV just in case? LOL
Sen. Peter K. Oberacker Jr. probably thinks these vehicles are a nuisance and found a self-righteous way to get rid of them in the name of saving the planet.
They need those ATV's as they are the ONLY vehicles capable of travel on NEVER FIXED I-88 NY. The Illegals need those Highway Funds so screw Rural NY. I-88 will get worse before it gets better
The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of long-term single lane closures and crossovers on Interstate Route 88 between Exits 17 and 18 in the Town of Maryland, Otsego County; and Exits 19 to 21 in the Towns of Worcester, Otsego County and Richmondville, Schoharie County to accommodate pavement renewal and bridge rehabilitation projects.
The left lane of I-88 westbound is closed for construction of a crossover to facilitate a pavement renewal project while keeping the interstate open for travel in both directions.
