Suncor Energy in Alberta is doing something pretty fascinating with co-generation, reducing sulfur dioxide emissions by 46%, nitrogen oxide by 17%, and particulate matter by 66%.
Are they recovering the heat and the water out of all this combusted exhaust?
We bid to Suncor 10 plus years ago a Sidel SRU Flue Gas Condenser Unit. The reason they were so interested in our Condensing Economizer is because of the shortage of water in that part of northern Alberta.
I am glad to see that they are taking advantage of their natural gas to generate this steam instead of coal.
Seems a shame to waste the petcoke. GHG is plant food, and much needed.
I worked on a cogen gas turbine in the SF Bay Area in the 80s. Most days the turbine exhaust was cleaner than the air it sucked in.
