EV or not, the screenification of modern automobiles is a mega turn off for me.
For a navigation system? Sure, a screen is okay. Android Auto and Apple Car Play are decent but that's because they essentially mirror smartphone interfaces.
Radio/audio? Meh.
But for speed and other technical information, please give me analog dials.
And for climate control, volume, etc, give me physical buttons and knobs.
I also tend to keep my cars for the long run and want easy to replace components.
I get the feeling that if a car with all these touch screens fail, it might be difficult and expensive to replace them, especially out of warranty.
This article is poor persuasion. When stupid points such as touch screens are listed, the author's credibility is shot. Take a page from the courtroom and hammer on the fatal flaws of EVs and don't dilute your argument with minor points. On second thought, there are still so many fatal flaws to EVs, just hammer on the top 3:
1) EVs are very poor transportation for anything other than short commutes. Most consumer vehicles are multi purpose and must do more than commute.
2) For the next few decades, EVs will be prisoners of their Chinese supply chain. Which, by the way is supplied by actual prisoners. It will literally take decades to fix this if it is even possible.
3) EVs will not have a perceptible influence on climate change. Except possibly for the worse.
I'm sure some author wrote a similar article about cars and horses in 1900. Cars are evolving including EVs and some of these points are well understood. It's early days and there is a lot of research in the EV/battery area. Look how much change in weight and range and charge time compared to the first EVs. 80% to 90% of the driving we do is no more than 100 miles and we are lucky we can charge in our garage and are full every time we leave the house. So many people don't have that convenience though.
I took a very quick shot at some of the top 10 items:
#2: Touch screen -- I see many new non-Tesla EVs are moving back to physical buttons for common functions (lights, HVAC, entertainment). The engineers and geeks got ahead of themselves vs human factors for sure.

#4: Public chargers not manned - This is a big concern and I would worry about my wife and daughters in these situations. Also I don't understand why these DCFC are not covered. Snow, rain, brutal hot summers. It just doesn't make sense. Gas stations have had covered pumps for decades. It's not like we don't understand this.
#6: Acceleration -- Cracks me up when so many EV enthusiast websites and YT vids rant on about the 0-60 times of their EVs. And large % of EVs sold are cross-over/SUV models not sports cars. I saw one European EV has a 'turbo' type button on steering wheel to allow for burst of power (passing) but normally the car just behaves.
#8: Weight -- When do these people making this comment talk about the massive pickups and giant SUVs on the road. Yes an EV is 25% to 30% heavier for the same class vehicle (EV6 vs RAV4). You have the same problem with a Suburban vs a Corolla.
#9: Tech can solve this. I saw where some jurisdictions require sound generators for EVs at low speeds. Or develop a vehicle detector and give it to the blind. How many people does this impact?
Can blind people step out in front of bike or many other obstructions?
#10: Guard Rails -- see comment for #8. Suburbans and F-150s/Ram pickups are everywhere and heavy.

The 2WD EK-X weighs 830kg. The 2WD EK-X-EV weighs 1070kg. That’s roughly 30% more. The EV has a range of 180km officially. The gasoline one appears to have a range of slightly over double that - possibly more, it is hard to figure out the tank size, I think it is 20l but it could be larger. The official fuel consumption is over 20km/l (23.3km/l - but I assume that’s optimistic). But 20l at 20km/l is 400km or 2.222x the 180km range of the EV
The gasoline car comes in at around two thirds of the price of the EV (JPY 1,664,520 list vs JPY 2,568,500). Perhaps that difference can be made up in operational cost? Given the use cases of these cars are short commute/local errand running for the most part, the likely monthly driving distance is probably going to be around 1000km. At the current JPY 175/l and generously saying 20km/l fuel consumption, 1000km is 50l or JPY8,750. Which works out as an annual cost (for 12,000 km) of JPY105,000.
So it would take 9 years of such use for the gasoline car to match the cost of the EV ignoring all the other maintenance costs and the price of the electricity to charge the EV
One thing I did not see are the requests made by government ( i.e. CA) not to charge your car when the grid is stressed. They speak out of both sides of their mouth. Buy an EV … but don’t expect to be able to charge it when you need to.

Here's another potential issue for EV's: What about EMF's when driving an EV? Are they potentially hazardous to human health? Are the EMF's that humans are exposed to while driving an EV stronger and therefore more hazardous than the EMF's while driving an ICE car?

I just scanned the titles of all the articles, Patricia has very many!--but did not see any title that references EV's. Do you know of a specific articles that discusses EMF's produced by EV's and also by hybrids just as the Toyota Prius that uses both an ICE and Electric Motor (sometimes at the same time) to drive the car?
Since I do not drive, I have not researched this as much as would a car buyer, but if you use PRESEARCH search engine and try searching the topic, I sure hope you will find the info you need. Ellen Brown, a well-known expert on finance and local/community banking is EMF sensitive and cannot stand e-vehicles, just one anecdotal report.
Great summary. Don't forget how much income governments receive from petrol taxes. They would probably be forced to levy similar taxes on the electricity for EVs. I still think the biggest issue is the power draw for a station with dozens of fast chargers, which you alluded to. It will overwhelm the local grid.

I have yet to hear from anyone who outchadia bev that it was an economical decision. Since I I fuel once a week the range being 525 miles, I would add significant time to my schedule to recharge. And those I know with home chargers have higher electricity bills than the neighbors, and that increase is more than the cost of gasoline.
Based on economic analysis of just acquisyand daily fuel the bev is more cost. And for what purpose? To say you’re an environmentalist?

Here's another potential issue for EV's: What about EMF's when driving an EV? Are they potentially hazardous to human health? Are the EMF's that humans are exposed to while driving an EV stronger and therefore more hazardous than the EMF's while driving an ICE car?

I just scanned the titles of all the articles, Patricia has very many!--but did not see any title that references EV's. Do you know of a specific articles that discusses EMF's produced by EV's and also by hybrids just as the Toyota Prius that uses both an ICE and Electric Motor (sometimes at the same time) to drive the car?
Since I do not drive, I have not researched this as much as would a car buyer, but if you use PRESEARCH search engine and try searching the topic, I sure hope you will find the info you need. Ellen Brown, a well-known expert on finance and local/community banking is EMF sensitive and cannot stand e-vehicles, just one anecdotal report.

Great summary. Don't forget how much income governments receive from petrol taxes. They would probably be forced to levy similar taxes on the electricity for EVs. I still think the biggest issue is the power draw for a station with dozens of fast chargers, which you alluded to. It will overwhelm the local grid.

I have yet to hear from anyone who outchadia bev that it was an economical decision. Since I I fuel once a week the range being 525 miles, I would add significant time to my schedule to recharge. And those I know with home chargers have higher electricity bills than the neighbors, and that increase is more than the cost of gasoline.
Based on economic analysis of just acquisyand daily fuel the bev is more cost. And for what purpose? To say you’re an environmentalist?
Add all of the other considerations and the bev is just a bad choice for transportation,
