What do they do with the carbon monoxide by product?

CH4+CO2 = CH3OH + CO

CO is a highly toxic gas that is usually disposed of by burning to produce CO2.

Where is the environmental benefit?

Good heavens. Why do they go through all that industrial processing when plants can do it for free?

This technology will use the 97%+ of naturally occurring CO2, i.e. plant food while reducing man-made CO2 by a mere 3% or less. That's what it means when CO2 is measured in parts-per-million and the anthropogenic component is 3% or less (according to the IPCC).

Progress in what we should be focused on - emissions and pollution. The grifters are backed into a corner by economic reality and are pushing hard to destroy the modern lifestyle, while they protest and complain while the rest of humanity goes to work. Better life by better chemistry.
