Perhaps the only worse option than generating electricity with offshore wind turbines is doing it with floating wind turbines. The costs are fantastic and it is only a matter of time before these structures are struck by a serious storm. The apparent damage to the ecosystem, especially to whales, should put a stop to this nonsense until the risks are thoroughly investigated.

I would reverse the statement, though: "The viability of Maine’s offshore wind plan depends entirely on the massive transformation of the state’s grid from fossil fuel use to electrification" - to 'The viability of the massive transformation of the state's grid from fossil fuel use to electrification depends entirely on the viability of Maine's offshore wind plan.' ...and you've shown clearly that it's not viable at all - not even close.
