What a great commentary! My favorite line:

The path to development for these nations must, by necessity, employ the same drivers that propelled the West’s progress in the 20th century. Access to abundant, reliable energy is paramount. The role of fossil fuels in this process cannot be overstated.

There are just no affordable, scalable, practical, substitutes for hydrocarbons to better human and world life!

Life here in California is a bit different today. A lot of our grocery stores are closing up due to the amount of stealing that is permitted by the State. The grocery stores and also a lot of other retail stores are closing, and those that can afford it are relocating to other states that are upholding the laws of the land.

Water is also becoming a much bigger issue. Farmers are being told they can't irrigate their crops. This at the same time that the snow is still melting on our coastal mountains. This melted snow water is protected water. It has gained this position and importance because Sacramento has determined that some little fish in our rivers needs this fresh water. These fish are probably also protected from fishing, so we cant eat them. The fresh water they are swimming in is flowing straight into the Pacific Ocean.

No Water ~ No Food- and we cant eat the fish?

This fresh water needs to be injected into our aquafers to stop our land from sinking. With water in the ground our farmers can be irrigating, and we will have fresh water in our homes to drink and cook with.

Farmers are going out of business, because they are not allowed to grow food, to feed the people of California and America. Who are these people with all the brains and smarts in Sacramento under governor newsome making these decisions?

I believe food and water are more important than taking showers. If these smart people can't figure out how to conserve water, I would advocate that they be the first to stop taking showers, and set a good example for the rest of the citizens of California.

Something has to be done!

Great job! I have taught courses on the history of energy and electricity generation and was shocked myself when digging into the facts. Kerosene saved the whales was one early result of fossil fuels. Then after about 1905 the U.S. economy shot past France, Germany and the UK as oil became important for automobiles, steel mills flourished and manufacturing soared. Fueled partially on our Freedoms, creativity, inventiveness, innovation and spirit of entrepreneurship. But, impossible to pull off without coal, oil and gas energy. Then there is Germans Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch inventing synthetic ammonia production for fertilizer and Henry Ford's Fordson Tractor to revolutionize agriculture. Human Longevity improvements are startling.....Thanks again
