Self punishing loop that they deserves. As the 7th largest produce and with oil reverses at 1.8 billion California should not be having these issues. However because of over a century of operating as an island politically-because of geography-and also an energy island-little to due with geography, but mostly political-California causes of environmental damage & more human suffering with importing oil & petroleum products from countries that do not have the same environmental standard & regulations, destroying ecosystems that California "fights" so hard for. This a classical case of not in my back yard.
Great article describing self defeating CA oil policies. Now, CA refineries set up for CA heavy crude, are dependent on heavy crude from the Amazon rainforests , which is crazy to me. Politics perhaps?
