The carbon storage by the trees and soil are now being declared “expendable”?
Where’s the study to show the tru carbon savings from taking out “free” carbon storage (using carbon powered equipment)?
And solar panels are only effective during partial daylight hours and that effectiveness drops during cloudy periods, fog, snow and when panel temperatures rise above 90F (direct sun) as heat does a number on the power generation physics.
I have yet to see any large metropolitan area take their city blight (vacant buildings) and demolish them for solar panels. Seems like they could find a lot of available land and close to the urban areas demanding the green power.
What will be the use of the trees? Maybe they will oelketizectgem and ship them to the UK to burn for heat? This isn’t tte only project where the native habitat has been altered to install solar. The real travesty is that natural environment is being destroyed for a couple of year’s electricity before degradation of the panels requires significant maintenance or replacement. Then there’s the contamination of the soil and watershed with leakage from the panels. Oh the greenies don’t want you to say that! If solar is so good then let the state office buildings be retrofitted with solar panels on the roof and sides - which will reduce the heat gain through the windows and require less air conditioning in the summer, Unsightly, yes; solar is unsightly anywhere. If the greenies supporting this would look at other sites of large scale solar and the impacts to the environment they would immediately recognize the damage to the environment . . . . Oh, wait a minute - no they wouldn’t as that would require admitting not being truly environmentally aware and concerned about impacts. After all, they are simply grifters galore looking for government funding and forcing payment for follies onto the taxpayer,
