People complain no matter what! The government is not the enemy unless you feel clean water and air are! Trump is turning into our first banana republic president for life type leader! He has no respect for the law but i do hear he may try for his GED( hope he passes this time)!

One thing no one ever seems to ask is:

Where has all that money gone? Who got it? It wasn't construction companies actually BUILDING the thing.

A real newspaper (looking at you, LA Times & SF Chronicle) would have journalists digging out the receipts and questioning whoever was "in charge" of this thing all this time.

California high-speed rail has been quite a boondoggle. If the state and federal governments had focused in 2008 on completing the segment from San Francisco to Stockton, there would have been a value proposition for residents and workers in the crowded San Francisco peninsula. After completion of the first segment, the line could have been expanded southward. I guess this approach was too logical.

The article states that the biden administration “gifted “ the project. That should really be grifted.

At the outset, the project has to be evaluated on how much sense does it make - and if the project promoters believe in the project then it should be pitched to private enterprise. If the project promoters just want funding for the dream then it is grifting and likely has no economic analysis by which to judge the viability of the project. That drives the question then do we really need it? It really want it? As a government project it’s a failure from the dream through multiple attempts at implementation.

Governments’ job, therefore, is to Get the Hell Out of Our Way!
