Doug Sheridan has another great post up at LinkedIn. He nails what’s wrong with California, namely that it keeps electing terrible leaders, Gavin Newsom being one ofv the worst. Newsom, though, is a classic out-of-touch trust-funder type. He can get away with what he’s doing in the Golden State, which, like New York, is dominated by unaware urban voters easily susceptible to demagoguery. Selling his record and his politically correct blather in Michigan or Pennsylvania is not likely to work. Climate panic, as Sheridan calls may be appealing in Manhattan or San Francisco, but that dog won’t hunt in the heartland of swing states.
At least Governor Newsom understood the perspective of nuclear power advocates such as Californians for Green Nuclear Power and reversed his stance opposing extended operations of Diablo Canyon Power Plant. We have more to say regarding this topic at https://greennuke.substack.com/
There’s a long way to go for governor goofball to make the dnc national ticket. I the next two years we’ll see if the California crowd is still favored or in control of the demonrats. The east coast mob has the same ambitions.
Ironically, the fact that California imports and consumes so much fossil fuels tells us all we need to know about the hypocrisy and NIMBY attitudes of the state’s progressive left and Newsom (Mr. “I can eat at the French Laundry when requiring all my constituents to stay home during the pandemic” - Never forget ;). They have similar attitudes towards the best “net-zero” energy solution available with nuclear power. We just got lucky that Gavin finally woke up, even if late in the process, to realize that shutting down Indian Point would have been devastating for the state, and signed the extension to keep it running.
I hope people think a little longer about what "clean" really means, how it's a calculated and insidiously evil smear of all industrial activity, and by implication, all Human life on this Earth. Humans cannot judge their purpose to live by how much pollution they make. That's not what a Human is. All pollution is an accidental effect of using energy to grow Human Life. Humans need to be protected from what's dangerous, but it's a moral lie and a contradiction for those who despise Humanity's growth to do so.
Thank you for the good news. Gavin is detestable, not just for his climate madness. Keeping him far from national power is important.
