I would respectfully disagree with the statement that AI requires an “all of the above” energy source. From every indication, AI is a steady load that requires steady, stable generation. What AI (anything, really) does not need is intermittent, non-dispatchable sources that force dispatchable sources to cycle continually.

Instead of tapping into the public grid make these power hungry data centers construct their own power generation facility. We will quickly see that the choice for near term construction will be natural gas fueled plants. The grid operators can then concentrate on accommodating the growth in per capita use and population growth, which is a current challenge. The cost is the data center will then be borne by the private enterprise and not the taxpayer,
