It’s time and appropriate to review what the DOE was formed to address for the country, then with our current needs make a decision on keep or eliminate. I don’t believe there is any slight reform that is effective for the DOE. The focus on destroying consumer products for an unattainable net zero political objective is reason enough to terminate employment of every staff that touched those efforts. It’s not just the department heads controlling the deep state, it’s the departments from the top down to the bottom of the organization. They’ve lost focus and are incapable of remaking themselves into public interest servants. Another issue is the career government employees that prove low productivity ensures time in grade promotion for incresed pay - where’s the merit based and achievement based consideration? These individuals are on a gravy train and likely wouldn’t and couldn’t make it in industry. So do we really need a DOE of such people? Are they really needed for processing government process and paperwork? Are they truly effective at unique and novel services that benefit the citizens of the USA? Maybe difficult for some bleeding hearts but I think this analysis and value measurement needs to be done for all government departments. As to the DOE, the last 4 years have cemented the lack of value to the public and a waste of taxpayer dollars.

I remember when the DOE only had the AEC and FERC authority. All else is political. How else could Jenny Grandholm have the job?
