Carter was a terrible president and a fine human being. I will deliberately remember him for his work with Habitat For Humanity, not for installing the Ayatollah in Iran. His forecasts on energy were truly rotten. He very successfully paved the way for Ronald Reagan with his lousy policies.

Historically, the DOE has been at best barely functional and a minority contributor to energy security and policy. The reaction to perceived current catastrophes is not a way to run a policy organization. If the staff countered radically reduced the agency could return to thru original charge. This can’t happen soon enough. With the appointment of Chris Wright the agency will have a knowledgeable energy professional who truly understand the process to create useable energy and the process to keep the supply stable. Expect the leftists to resist at every front.
